Back pain treatment is what most people think of when they think of Chiropractic.

Going to a Chiropractor, (D.C.) for relief of back pain makes sense because no other profession requires as much study of the anatomy and function of the back.

This specialized knowledge is necessary because these doctors put their treatment focus on the spine.

Chiropractic should be your first choice for Back Pain Relief because D.C.’s go through eight years of schooling with an exceptional focus on the back.

This specialized education allows them to find and remove the cause of your back pain and not waste time treating only the symptoms.

All of us are exposed to stresses in our lives that could cause misalignments in the bones of the spine. This can lead to nerve irritation and back pain.

D.C.'s call these stresses to your nervous system Subluxations.

Subluxations caused by everyday events everyone is exposed to: Things like improper lifting, poor posture, slips and falls, sports injuries, or auto accidents.

Chiropractic is so important to health because it’s the only profession trained to find and eliminate this problem of stress on the spine and nervous system.

This stress on the spine is sometimes called a Silent Killer.

People can have problems in their back (spine) for a long time before ever having symptoms. It is a very good idea for anyone who wants to prevent back pain from becoming a problem in their life to get their spine checked for this hidden spinal stress.

Of course if you have back pain already, getting seen by a D.C. is vital.

When you find a good D.C. he or she will tell you what they found on their exam of your spine and make recommendations as to a plan of care.

If they don’t find a problem that they can help you with, they will refer you to someone who may be better able to help your particular case.

Don’t be shy about trying a Chiropractor

Almost every professional athlete gets treated by a D.C.

When I first graduated from Chiropractic College I interned in a practice that treated most of the Boston Celtics basketball team.

I saw all but one or two of the players who were on the team at that time- Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Dennis Johnson, Danny Ainge, Cedric Maxwell, Quinn Buckner, ML Carr, and Gerald Henderson come in for care.

They got care so that they could remain free of back pain which is very common in basketball players. The care also helped them play basketball to their full potential.

Don’t you want to be living your life to your full potential?

And don’t you want your children to be living their lives to their potential?

That is what going to a chiropractor for care is all about, Relieving Back Pain of course. But in addition to that, helping you live to your potential by improving the Nervous system communication between the brain and the rest of the body. D.C.'s provide back pain relief by a method called the Chiropractic Adjustment.

Chiropractors are the only professionals with extensive training in spinal adjusting. The adjustment is performed in different ways depending on the particular technique being used.

In general a gentle force is applied to the spine to release a back bone from its stuck or abnormal position.

With certain adjusting techniques a popping sound can be heard. This is caused by a release of gas in the joint.

Some Chiropractors use the term Chiropractic Manipulation rather than Chiropractic Adjustment.

Adjustments are almost always comfortable for a patient. If a patient is uncomfortable hearing any noise during an adjustment the doctor can usually use a different method that doesn’t cause any noise.

To determine if a patient needs an adjustment or to pinpoint the exact bone that needs straightening for back pain relief, chiropractors use a number of special tests.

These could include x-ray, posture analysis, leg length, bilateral weight scales, palpation and range of motion, skin temperature, as well as orthopedic or neurological tests.

To Your Best Health,

Dr. Cliff
