WHITE WILLOW BARK EXTRACT

White Willow Bark Extract is a wonderful natural remedy which provides relief from pain and inflammation. It works in your body similar to the way that aspirin does, but without the irritation to your stomach lining that aspirin causes.

You may find that White Willow Bark Extract is actually more effective than aspirin at relieving pain and inflammation, because White Willow Bark is stronger than aspirin.

I have been taking White Willow Bark Capsules for pain and inflammation caused by osteoarthritis. I prefer to take natural products for pain control as long as they are effective, because they are usually far safer than drugs that have many dangerous side effects.

My wife has also started taking White Willow for help with the pain of Fibromyalgia. She too is getting excellent relief with the same White Willow Herbal Supplement that I use.

I take three capsules a day at meals. This is the recommended dosage. There are no major known side effects and I have never had any. Stomach upset is possible in some people if to high of a dose is taken.

Many scientific studies have been done which show willow bark to be helpful for low back pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fever, flu, bursitis, tendinitis and many other inflammatory problems. Studies have also found willow bark strengthens the immune system.

Who First Used White Willow Bark?

For many centuries people who had fevers, headaches, or inflammation were told to chew on willow bark because it was known to reduce pain and inflammation. The reason is because willow bark contains salicin, which is a chemical similar to aspirin. It can take longer to get relief with white willow bark extract but the relief appears to be longer lasting.

There are a number of willow trees and shrubs found in North America, Europe, and Asia such as white willow, black willow, pussy willow, and weeping willow. The bark of these trees has been used for thousands of years and was instrumental in the development of aspirin.

White Willow Bark can cause trouble for some people who are already taking aspirin, or are sensitive to aspirin, and for others who are pregnant or have certain diseases such as asthma, gastritis, diabetes, or stomach ulcers. Therefore it is always important to inform your healthcare provider that you are taking white willow bark to be sure that it is not interacting with other drugs or supplements you may be taking.

It is thought that taking too much willow bark extract can cause skin rash, nausea, and possibly ringing in the ears.

Also, it is not recommended for children under the age of 16.

To Your Best Health,

Dr. Cliff
